Full carbon compensation for Natixis Asset Management

Natixis Asset Management offset 100% of its direct carbon emissions in 2017 for the second year in a row. This fresh breakthrough is a natural extension of the initiative that kicked off in 2009 with the implementation of an annual carbon review to gain a greater insight into our environmental footprint and identify concrete steps to reduce it.

Natixis Asset Management offset its greenhouse gas emissions in 2017 by financing a development aid program in Tanzania, selected in partnership with Ecoact, a key player in corporate decarbonization. The project was based on a participative approach, as company staff were able to vote for their favorite venture, an initiative to reduce deforestation and improve home air quality in Tanzania. The aid program will include the distribution of improved ovens and air filters by local companies. Natixis Asset Management’s involvement in this project should help improve air quality for 75,000 families, promote the creation of jobs locally and avoid greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere of 92,500 to 125,000 tons of CO2 equivalent each year, which is the same as more than 36,000 Paris-NYC return trips by plane (second class).

This achievement marks a real milestone and is a direct result of our staff’s active involvement, as they continually reiterate their commitment to our participatory initiatives” notes Matthieu Duncan, Chief Executive Officer of Natixis Asset Management.
